Warm sunshine and light winds on Friday evening last made for a very relaxed start to the Camile Thai Mullaghmore Regatta. However, Saturday and Sunday’s conditions with testing winds and showers made for a challenging and exciting schedule of races run by Dublin Bay Race Officer, Brian Matthews who was supported by Mairead Ni Cheallachain.

In the 12-strong spinnaker fleet, Sligo Yacht Club’s Jevan, skippered by Ken Draper saw off the competition to take the Pier Head trophy on Friday. Richard O'Boyle led the fleet on Saturday in Maximus to take the SF trophy, and Sean Hawkshaw’s Sigma 38 from Mullaghmore Sailing Club won the Commodore’s Cup on Sunday.

Jevan was the overall top boat in the spinnaker fleet.

The White Sails category was battled out between five Mullaghmore Sailing Club boats with Italian Job skippered by Ciaran Walsh taking the win from Martin Christie’s Tetra and Indigo Kiss, skippered by Brendan Connolly in third place.

The Under 25 crew category was once again won by Mullaghmore Sailing Club’s Black Pearl helmed by Aoife Devlin with stiff competition from Sligo’s Lady Caroline.
