The Northern Ireland Maritime & Offshore network (NIMO) is a new government-backed body, to unlock commercial opportunities in the growing maritime and offshore sector has been created.

The region currently employs more than 5,000 people in the sector and contributes close to £4 billion a year to the economy.

NIMO, is being funded by Invest NI, and will address key strategic priorities in the sector. This will include job creation, regional balance, productivity enhancement. It will also focus on carbon emission reduction.

Among its founding members is Belfast based Artemis Technologies, an expert in green maritime innovation and digitalisation, and the network’s current roster of 46 members includes Kinsetsu, Belfast Harbour, Harland & Wolff, MJM Marine, Foyle Port, CASC and Sea Source.

Also a network member is Cork-headquartered Doyle Shipping Group (DSG), with divisions in ports, logistics and renewables, and Afloat adds the Simply Blue Group, also based in Cork, a blue economy developer focused on replacing fossil fuels with clean energy.
