Lagan Head Hopes to Progress with Single Race

Lagan Head organisers have cut back its schedule for Saturday in Belfast because of the weather, and the rowing event may yet have to be cancelled. They stated that safety was paramount.

“The Met Office has issued a Yellow Wind warning for 12 midday Saturday into Sunday. With this in mind, it is no longer possible to race during this time. A decision has been made to cancel Race 1 outright. If the weather forecast doesn’t deteriorate for Saturday morning then there MAY be an opportunity to hold RACE 2 (bigger boats) during Saturday am at about 10.30 am on a shortened course.”

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
