The superyacht Akula, a luxury vessel known for its striking design and advanced capabilities, is drawing attention in Cork Harbour this weekend as it berths on the Cork Quays this Easter weekend.

Akula is a 59.4-metre (194.9 feet) superyacht built by Rossinavi in 2024. It features a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, boasting a distinctive red exterior and a cruising speed of 12 knots.

FM Architettura designed the yacht's interior, and it is capable of accommodating 10 guests and 13 crew members.

The yacht, whose name translates to "shark" in Russian, has been the subject of maritime tracking and interest among superyacht enthusiasts.

It's understood that Jonathan Faiman, a former Goldman Sachs banker and co-founder of grocery and tech company Ocado, owns the boat.

Boat International magazine says Akula will undertake a polar expedition this year.
