There was an improvement in scores for Irish boats at the UK and Ireland Squib National Championships.
The leading Irish boat, in 22nd place after six races sailed, is Ian Travers and Keith O’Riordan in ‘Outlaw’ from Kinsale Yacht Club.
The wind blew from 220 degrees at 10-12 knots from the old town to the race area. Some of the Irish boats showed improved form in these conditions.
Next Irish is ‘Femme Fatale’, sailed by Vincent Delany and Joe O'Boyle of the Royal St George in 38th place in the 65-boat fleet.
At the top of the leaderboard is ‘Two Counts’ No.142, sailed by Jono Browne and Chris Agar, who had two-second places today. They use Londen & Gray sails which have generally fallen out of favour in the Squib Fleet, which Hyde Sails and Batt Sails dominate. They also use tight rigging and prebend their mast- all features which are not popular in the fleet.
Racing continues.
