Local sailors Flahive and Byrne, a student at DIT, have been lent the boat by Graham Noonan of Noonan Boats in Newcastle, Co Wicklow, and are in the process of stripping the antifouling and servicing various parts of the boat in preparation for the event.

The double-handed class attracted considerable interest last year and was boosted this year with the announcement that blind adventurer Mark Pollock and former solo Round Ireland record holder Mick Liddy will compete in a Class 40.
