As Netflix Viking Valhalla fans prepare for season two on our screens from January 12, it's worth noting the marine sequences are all shot in Ireland and were designed and managed by Dun Laoghaire Harbour's Alistair Rumball.
Stunts are a real feature in the Vikings/Valhalla story and include capsized boats and a Viking longship ablaze.
Rumball, the well-known principle of the Irish National Sailing School on Dun Laoghaire's West Pier, designed and managed the Marine sequences in County Wicklow at Lugala, Lough Dan and Ashford and Slane Castle in County Meath.
In particular, the burning ship stunt was managed by Rumball at Lugala.
The new season of Vikings: Valhalla premieres on January 12 on Netflix. Prepare for Vikings: Valhalla with this special look at the making of Season 2 in this Facebook clip below that briefly features Rumball's burning ship.
As regular Afloat readers will recall, Rumball's Marine Services offshoot from the INSS has been involved with many of the epic scenes in blockbuster movies shot in Ireland, not least the opening beach scene in Steven Spielberg's 1998 Saving Private Ryan shot in County Wexford.
