Lack of Wind Curbs Progress at Greystones Regatta

#greystonesharbour – The Wicklow coast was forecast for no wind today and unfortunately for the 'Taste of Greystones' Regatta and an entry of some 120 boats it proved correct. Race officer Jack Roy took the big fleet out to sea for two hours but with only two knots of wind and two knots of ebbing tide it was always going to be a hopeless case.

It is understood GSC will attempt to rerun the event in October.

Meanwhile, the results of yesterday's first two races of the Cruiser 2 and 3 championships at the same venue stood for today's overall prizes. Class 3 IRC and Echo was won by Vespucci (Sean O' Regan, Ken Lawless, Sybil McCormack RIYC). Second was club mate Paul Colton in Cri Cri. Greystones Local Flash skippered by Ggraham Noonan was third.

The Class three Team trophy was won by Vespucci, Cri Cri and Supernova.

In Class two IRC and Echo Dave Cullen's champion half tonner from Howth did the buisness. Second was Cullen's club–mate Anthony Gore-Grimes in Dux. Third was
Tim Goodbody's Sigma 33 White Mischief from the Royal Irish.
