Afloat ie’s many regular readers will have assumed that mid-September’s winning the Corinthian Division in the 2023 J/24 Words in Greece would ensure a place in the latest “Sailors of the Month” lineup for the multi-club Headcase crew helmed by Cillian Dickson, and also for Tom Dolan’s first leg victory to Kinsale in the Figaro Solo Paprec 2023.

So they have, in a sense. But as the Headcases were already “Sailors of the Month” for August as a result of winning the Europeans in Hungary, the September success will be used to augment that, such that in due course it will all come up in even brighter lights.

And while Tom Dolan’s first was confirmed in the early days of September, he actually did the business on the last day of August, and thus appeared in last month’s lineup. But here, too, it will all go into the eventual totalling of the annual achievement.
