Shannon engine theft continues

Several boat owners in marinas in Lough Derg have been relieved of their outboards, as a spate fo engine theft has hit the lake and this week the MGM marine premises in Longford has also been hit.

The village of Garrykennedy has been particularly badly hit, with a gang making off with seven outboards, with Terryglass also targeted, with two engines and a jetski going missing. Most of the engines were recovered in a house n Nenagh, but clubs are being warned that they are at risk of further thefts, with claims that the engines are being stolen to order for export to Eastern European countries.

MGM marine have reported the theft of equipment from its Shannon site at Rinn Marina, Newtownforbes, Co Longford on Tuesday 2nd September.

The items stolen on Tuesday were;

1. A complete out-drive unit belonging to an Aquador 23 and it is a D-3 Volvo drive including the duel props.

2. The second item is a lower unit from a 3.0 lt Maxum Mercruiser alpha one leg.

Both of these units are new. The Gardai have taken a note off the items and they have the serial numbers.
