Sections Joined to Form Hull of Arklow's First ‘V’ Class Newbuild

#CompletedHull – Further progress on the newbuild Arklow Vale took place on Monday with the aftship section transported outside of a Dutch shipyard's building hall, writes Jehan Ashmore.

The section mounted on road-trailers was towed by truck to an adjoining quayside where Afloat previously reported on the foreship section that undertook the same logistical operation in June.

The exercise to finally join the aft and foreship sections also took place on Monday at the yard in Hoozegard. The completion of the newbuild's hull No. 721 at Royal Bodewes represents the first in a new series of 10 cargsoships each of 5,150dwt on order from Arklow Shipping.

The distinctive hull by the hand of Groot Ship Design has a straight-stem bow form with upper slope to reduce and deflect wave resistance.
