The Rowing Ireland working group on Covid-19 has set September 12th and 13th as the dates for the Irish Rowing Championships. More regattas might slot into the programme before the rescheduled event, which must be given the greenlight by the Board of Rowing Ireland and by an agm.

The season for Rowing Ireland Coastal and Offshore rowing, both with championships in August, remains suspended.

It is understood that the new Championship dates would allow the event to be pushed back one week in the event of bad weather.

Meanwhile, the calendar of international events for the season continues to contract. The Coupe de la Jeunesse, set for Linz-Ottensheim in Austria on the first weekend of August, has been cancelled.

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
