Notice to all Shipowners, Fishing Vessel Owners, Agents, Shipmasters, Skippers, Fishermen, Yachtsmen and Seafarers
Damage to Westcove Perch and Leading Lights, Co. Kerry, due to recent storms

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has been advised that:

the Westcove Perch ( 51° 46.00' N Latitude, 010° 02.93' W Longitude ) and

West Cove Leading Lights (West Cove Lead Front 51° 46.11' N Latitude, 010° 03.08' W Longitude and West Cove Lead Rear 51° 46.17' N Latitude, 010° 03.19' W Longitude ) are out of commission due to structural damage during the recent storms.

Part of the Westcove Perch, which is constructed of a concrete pillar, is broken and is lying on the seabed adjacent to the perch. This concrete component, measuring approximately 1.5m x 1.5m x 4m, is a substantial obstacle to navigation in the area.

For safety reasons, mariners are requested to keep a sharp lookout and to proceed slowly and with extreme caution in the approach to Westcove Quay.

An updated Marine Notice will be issued once weather conditions are favourable to allow detailed inspection to be carried out.
