‘We’re Here For You’: Online Orders Welcome At Viking Marine

While Viking Marine’s Dun Laoghaire store remains closed to the public amid the measures against Covid-19, the chandlery remains open for online orders by debit or credit card.

And it’s also maintaining a limited delivery service, both locally and nationally via courier where available, as well as pre-arranged collections for essential items from its premises at The Pavilion — all while adhering to the protocols for workplace and customer safety.

Managing director Ian O’Meara says trade has been busy as people stick to social distancing and carry out boat repairs — and turn the same expertise to garden furniture and other household needs — in the safety and comfort of their own homes.

“Never before has the term uncharted waters being so true as we are surely in them now,” O’Meara wrote in a recent blog post on VikingMarine.ie.

“Whilst the sailing season has been disrupted, we in Viking Marine support the importance of essential mental health and our boats and our ocean have a big part to play in this.

“So if you are working on your boat and in need of supplies to get boat-ready, we are here for you.”

He added: “To our colleagues in essential retail, we say thank you for keeping your doors open, you have our appreciation and our respect.

“To you, our loyal and valued customers, we look forward to welcoming you all back during the summer months and getting you all out on the water again.”

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
