Facebook Videographer Ronan Kelly's tour of Blacksod lighthouse in County Mayo includes an interview with keeper Vincent Sweeney who reveals a special connection with the lighthouse, his mother and the D-Day landings.

Kelly, who travels around Ireland by bike and gathers sights and stories has a popular following on social media and that includes his latest Lockdown Lookback Series.

Sweeney tells Kelly how his mother gathered the weather readings at Blacksod in 1944 which, when transmitted to London, led to a postponement of the D-Day landings. This, according to Sweeney, saved thousands of lives.
