Financiers from the corporate sector and economic advisers are being hired by partners behind plans for a €2bn deep-water port north of Dublin to drum up funding from international banks and private investors for the project.

The planned port, Bremore Ireland Port, as Afloat previously reported, is on the Dublin-Meath border near Balbriggan is a joint venture between Drogheda Port and Johnny Ronan’s Ronan Group Real Estate.

Last year, the partners hired a planning team to advance the project, with a view to having it assessed as a strategic infrastructure development.

The Minister for Transport has supported an application for Connecting Europe Funding by Bremore Ireland Port to facilitate consulting activities required to secure a successful planning outcome, according to the port partners.
