An underwater surveying start-up recently spun out from Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland has secured £316,000 in seed funding, as Silicon Republic reports.
FjordStrong has developed a specialised system called Auto-release Baited Underwater Video, which is designed to survey protected marine wildlife.
And it hopes to capitalise on a growing market for environmental assessments in order to minimise human impact on delicate ecosystems at sea.
Among its current projects, FjordStrong is working with Inland Fisheries Ireland and BlueWise Marine in Galway to evaluate what role marine renewable energy schemes can play in conservation efforts.
