This coming weekend the Mitsubishi Flying Fifteen Frostbite Series starts and are being hosted by the National Yacht Club for the next six weeks. Local FF fleet captain Joe Coughlan is hoping for a good turnout following the success of last week’s East Coast Championships and the high numbers racing during the summer.

As usual in this fleet it is difficult to call the winner as racing is always close and exciting, the holders David Mulvin & Ronan Beirne will be hoping to retain the trophy but any of a number of boats could win including the in form Meagher’s in Ffantastic Mr Fox and National Champions Dave Gorman & Chris Doorly in Betty.

It promises to be an exciting series as the local Moth class will also be participating in this annual series where Ian Mathews is race officer.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
