Royal Cork Yacht Club and its members are gearing up for Cork Week 2010. It is a big event not alone for competitors, but also for visitors to Crosshaven from the 10th – 16th July next. Given the effort and planning required by Irish and overseas competitors to compete in this biennial event, it is very impressive even at this stage and in these economic times, that we are experiencing strong enquiries from boat owners to take part in next year’s regatta, say organisers.

Irish and International sailors enjoy the balance of great racing, held over a variety of courses, along with the liveliest of “craic” ashore which makes this an event that you just do not want to miss. 2010 sees a continuation of what was a very successful 08 event. Both on and off the water it promises to draw boats of all sizes.

Cork Week has something to offer everybody; those who are not into sailing can enjoy a week of fun ashore where we will have our usual tented village with Bars, Shops, Restaurants and Music to cater for all needs. One addition for the 2010 event will be the participation of the Commodore’s Cup boats from Ireland, France and the UK who will use this regatta as part of their preparation for their big event in the South of England in mid August.

Another class that has seen a big increase over the last few years has been the Gentleman’s Class fleet (No Spinnaker allowed) and the organising committee expect a big increase in this fleet for 2010. All in all Cork Week 2010 promises to continue to build on what has been a very successful week in the sailing calendar and we in Crosshaven look forward to welcoming our many friends back to enjoy our hospitality in July 2010.
