Secret Spots? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Anyone out there got a favourite hidey-hold around the Irish coast?

Mine has to be Horseshoe Harbour, just outside Baltimore. We spent a calm night here a few years ago, scooping armfuls of mackerel out of the sea, and snorkelling in the clear water, where we spotted a puffer fish in among the rocks.

Any other secret spots?

Dinty's bar is quite a spot in 'Hall alright. Lots of clocks, think 3000 in all.. like some place Flann O'Brien dreamt up. Maybe it is...

Few accessable spots close to Skerries, but only by dinghy; Dad's Wayfarer is the boat for exploring the place. He'll never notice the scratches...

Barnagheera is about 2 miles north, nice empty bay but full when there's a concert in Ardgillen Park.. Who'da thunk you'd see Meatloaf from your boat...

St. Patricks Island about a mile offshore is where himself first landed in Ireland, (the Skerry heads robbed his goat, hence the burgee) a ruined monastry is about all there is to see. A tiny inlet is the only landing spot, ask a local before you attempt because there's a knack to getting into it. Apparantly there's a few canons on the north-east end of the island, but I've never seen them.

Shenick Island was once owned by John and Yoko. there's a Martello tower that hasn't been blocked up by the council (yet) so if you've always wondered... The bay on the island is class too.

Bring an anchor and SANDWICHES.

My little secret is for sharing now I am sailing in Central America yeha.
ITs Donegal. If you were to enter Donegal Bay then you sail east towards the donegal town. You will enter through a harbour mouth about 400 mtrs wide then you turn to port and follow the channel and then anchor infront of the old Ballhill Youth Hostel about 25ft of water in the channel infront of the hostel, Its an old Coastguard station so is easy to spot. Heck my old mooring ball might still be there and then we had a 37ft yacht .
