Here at Afloat, we're givers, and we want to give you a selection of the best nautical books hitting shelves this Christmas.

All you have to do to enter is show your face (or something suitably beautiful).

All users on Afloat's forums have the option to upload an original profile picture, or 'avatar', to complement their username. Avatars can be photos, illustrations or any graphic representation.

To be in with a chance to win a library of sailing books for Christmas, all you have to do is enhance your forum profile with an original avatar.

To win the Collection of Sailing books simply log in and upload your avatar before midnight on December 1st, and in one line give us a one-line background to it on this Avatar Competition forum thread.

The winning Avatar will be named on this forum on December 1st.

The judges result is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

How to upload your own Avatar on Afloat.ie.

Once you've registered your username, head to the forum and log in. In the grey bar at the top of the screen, you'll see 'My Profile'. Click on that, and then look for 'My Avatar' on the left under the 'Personal Info' section. Click 'choose file' to pick an image file from your computer.

Images that are sized 100 pixels X 100 pixels work best, and as a guideline, the file should be no more than 150KB in size.
