If a meeting were to be called, how would the Agenda read?

1. Establishment of a dinghy forum under the auspices of ISA?

2. Rationalisation of the dinghy scene in Ireland?

3. Would there be a forum for interaction with Harry Gallagher's Race Management Group?

4. Have we a real idea of what we want ISA to do for the dinghies?

Another subject would be to promote a clubs and classes regatta workshop to rationalise the calendar. This could even extend to some of the smaller-number one-design keelboat classes who MAY be suffering from reduced numbers.

The calendar workshop already exists - the ISA organises them. Only problem is that not all that many people turn up and dates are not available.

Generally there is a problem here in Ireland in getting classes and clubs to fix dates early enough. I would suggest (from my experience in France) that international events should be fixed 2 years in advance, and national events and major regional events by December at the latest, with regional and local events being fixed in January.

As for an agenda - perhaps the first priority is to agree on a diagnosis before suggesting a cure.

So:

1. What's wrong with dinghy sailing at present?
2. What do we want to change?
3. What do we want to stay unchanged?
4. What do we want done?
5. Who's going to do it?

100 of the keenest young adult dinghy sailors in the country will be in Schull on March 28/29 for the National Team Racing Championships. There will be Olympic sailors, World, European and National Champions and top club and college sailors. Maybe someone would care to organise a discussion with them! (I'll be there, but as Secretary of ITRA I will be busy helping run the event)
